Hi Jesus,

Thanks for sharing these but I had to chuckle at your choice of food!  For some reason, I honestly couldn’t picture you as a fast food fan, but I guess that I was wrong, lol.  I almost never eat fast food, but a few weeks ago, I got a sudden KFC craving, so I had to break down and satisfy that.

At least you ate lots of good food in between, though, so I “forgive you”!!

This early morning I walked before temperatures go high.

Now it's 1:00 PM, I just ate at Burger King, ice cream unavailable and they cool down the AC unit with a garden hose because temperatures are crazy! I left Orléans and will ga back home in 5 hours, crossing the heat wave red zone.

This morning I went to Châteauneuf-sur-Loire, a small city next to Orléans to find remains of the SAEGE monorail test track. You can see this monorail in the 1966 movie Fahrenheit 451.

I just find a concrete base block used to fix pillars. The rest of the railway track next to the monorail track is covered with brambles and can't be seen. I also recreated the scene in the video above when they walk, I'll post later. And I also meet the occupant of the house (house of the railway crossing keeper) you see behind main characters and I learnt that people from different countries come here to see this place.

The afternoon, I come back to Orléans and walked near the track and took photos as usual. Photography is also my hobby. There was also some snakes, it's always surprising to find one. Most of the time it's grass snakes but there are also vipers. For last years, I see a proliferation of snakes, even in my garden.

I stayed in the zones covered by trees because the temperatures are still crazy!

The heatwave is expected to be worse on the next days and should be present until Thursday. This is the heatwave alert map seen on the news. I'm on the red zone, the highest level with temperatures between 36°C - 41°C / 96F - 106F.

I ate a healthy dinner! For this weekend I alternate between Mc Donald's, Burger King and KFC. Thankfully, I eat healthier things like fruits and vegetables the rest of the time.

Thank you for sharing your photos, but sorry to hear about the meeting cancellation due to extreme heat. (I haven’t watched your video yet, but will do so later)

I’ve never been unfortunate enough to have experienced 37 C heat where I live in Eastern Canada.  I even find low 30s very uncomfortable, and thankfully, that only happens once or twice a year at most here.  Inland areas of my province, though, are warmer, but still not 37 C.

Your hair looks great.  The length looks to be similar to mine, or perhaps just a touch longer.  You appear to have more wave in your hair than I do. My hair does get wavier in the summer, though. 

I know that I’m overdue to post a ponytail photo, and will try to get one up soon.

Hi,

I spend this weekend at Orléans (France) for a meeting at the Aerotrain test track. Unfortunately the meeting was canceled on the last minute due to an severe heat wave. Temperature was 37°C / 99°F this evening.

These photos was shot now just after the sunset.

     Yes I've seen video, I believe of the space station, with women astronauts on board and its funny seeing longhair in zero gravity! Just kinds of floats around.LOL

   Wow, I love the video editing whether you did it or were the cameras built into the rides then video files given to you afterward. i have to say you need to have a lot of faith in the equipment being your going along for the ride for better or worse. Still it looks like a blast if your into those kind of rides.Thanks for sharing and good to see you were able to keep your hair under control!LOL

This fun fair called “Foire aux Plaisirs” that we could translate by “pleasure fair” fair stands twice per year on the Bordeaux main square “Place des Quinconces” in March and October. See it on street view.

Hi Mark,

Thank you again, and even in the sunny, outdoor photo, my hair still looks whiter than when I see it for myself. When I look at myself in a mirror, I can clearly see more browns, but they’re not as evident in photos taken with my phone.

Eventually, I will be getting a new phone, probably one with a better camera, and it will be interesting to see whether I get the same colour.  The main thing is that I’m still happy to have this hair at my age, regardless of the colour.

       Back in the heyday of the mlhh I was on a roll doing in person meetups.In my last post I forgot to mention yourself as well.I did meet some local guys too as one that comes to mind is a guy named Dell.Not sure you remember him but he posted a lot of cool pics of himself here at one time.I met him in person at a restaurant, like we did, down in the Princeton,NJ area.Not sure if any future meetups will be in the cards but never say never.Cheers.

      Thanks for attaching these photos to help illustrate your hair length and color.Actually the top photo from a month ago looks really great in regards to color as compared to the more recent one that followed.The silvery grey is very stunning whereas the bleached look makes you appear to have that Santa look of snow white hair.You very fortunate as I'd rock that natural color everyday if I had it but whatever my natural color truly is will be a mystery unless I stop coloring and let it eventually return to a natural state.Unfortunately that would take time as my hair would have to grow out the henna since it doesn't fade.Hoping otherwise your ready for summer as we are getting very close to that season now.Cheers.

In addition to my earlier reply to you, I have included two more photos, both taken outside, while I was out for a walk.  In the first one, the weather was rather cloudy, and the leaves weren’t fully out yet.  It was taken about a month ago.  The second photo was taken under sunny conditions, about a week after the first one, and the leaves were out, with a much greener background.

As you can see, my hair is much more silvery looking in the first photo, but looks more white in the second one.  It was very windy on both days, so my hair was a mess.

Wow, it really sounds as though you got around, and had the chance to meet so many MLHH members.  That’s one benefit of living in the same country, so much easier for everyone to get together.  Travel from Canada is so much more difficult now, but if things change in the future, maybe I’ll have the chance to get to the USA once again, and who knows, we could even have another meetup.  Yes, chatting in person is so much better!

Thank you for your kind words, and yes, I count my blessings to have the hair that I have, with my 73rd birthday less than 2 months away.  Also, with the increased thickness due to the humidity, the slight thinning that I have near the crown is almost imperceptible.  

As for my hair colour, it’s 100% natural, but I should mention a qualifier, in that my phone always makes my hair in indoor photos appear lighter than it is when I look at myself in a mirror.  I’ve never been able to get my phone to show it exactly as it really is.

I’ve been able to get very successful outdoor photos due to the natural light, and it has more of a grey/silver tone.  I should try to post  an outdoor, still photo.

Good Morning David,

      The chat was used more when Bill first added the feature but after awhile it kind of got used less and less. Problem was if you went on chat, and no one knew that you were there if they weren't on the mlhh at the time, no one would jump in.It's like you really had to arrange a time in advance with others to really use it. I haven't tried our new version that Jesus set up yet.

     Oh how I loved mlhh meetups. I've met so many guys that I don't recall the number but the biggies were when I went to California where we had a big group gatherings that Bill helped set up.On the top of my head I met Bill,Ken aka Urban Cowboy,Scott Nagel,Walter Whitetail, Steve NoVa, Trolleypup to name a few I recall off the top of my head.Sadly I never met Jason who lives north of me in Mass.As far as Jason he is aware of the new mlhh as Jesus CCed him in e mails when we were in the process of changing it over.Actually Jason and myself are the only mods right now so not sure why he hasn't jumped in yet.I know he's busy, based on his FB posts and yes he still has long hair as well as his son. I'll have to message him on FB just to remind him.

   I do remember Chris G. and Hans for sure.I do recall meeting Hans a couple times at Will's longhair party in San Fran back in the day but those events stopped happening when Covid was hatched.I'm glad I attended several of those parties before they ended in the late teens.

     Anyway a long winded response but I just got on a roll.If we were in person the stories I could expand on regarding this subject.Thanks for asking my friend.Cheers.

  Love the angle of that photo as it really shows off your length quite well. Certainly you are fortunate to have such great hair in your early 70s! Not only a fantastic length but your natural color is to die for. People go to salons to achieve that kind of color and you have it for free! As you know I color my own hair myself so my only expense is the henna I purchase, which does go a long way.Also my hair is still full like yours even though not as long.Thanks for posting such an inspirational pic as us older guys need to know that yes, we can still have long hair! Happy weekend everyone,

Today, I’m doing something a bit different, a photo of my hair from the side, using the old “reflection in mirror” method.  I’m not good at taking back photos, but the side is the next best thing.

With more humidity in the air, my hair gets wavier, but also looks thicker, and possibly a bit shorter as well.  Even more humidity increases this effect still further but my hair never actually looks curly.  Because I cropped the edges of the image to get more hair and less filler, there are margins on each side.

Also, I’m happy to have maintained a decent amount of shine in my hair, despite my 73rd birthday being 2 months away.  Thank you, everyone, and have a great one!

I actually only used the chat function once, but other guys, including Bill, were hugely into it.  ChrisG, who used to be a mod, used it a lot as well.  I remember that ChrisG eventually ran into issues with depression, and he cut his hair.

As for meetups, besides getting the chance to meet you, I had three meetups with Jason, including attending his wedding.  At Jason’s wedding, I met another frequent poster to the MLHH, Hans Uwe, from Germany.  I don’t know whether you remember him, but he posted frequently to the site when I joined in late 2006.

Speaking of Jason, I was hoping that he would discover our new and improved MLHH, but he hasn’t been around.  He used to be totally dedicated to the long hair cause, and I hope that he still has his long hair.  I wonder whether you’ve managed to stay in touch with him, if he’s on Facebook or any other sites that I don’t frequent?

   Oh yes how I so remember those days when activity was high, members even arranged meetups,and we even had chat going for awhile as clunky as it was back then.Whether we ever get back to that level again is hard to say.Like you stated there are other options but frankly I prefer the cleaner look of the mlhh, no pop up ads, no tracking, and general respect towards one another.Its been way better since Jesus brought the mlhh into the 21st century.With that said the first few month have been a huge improvement regarding activity.Time will tell as we are in different times as well.Cheers.

That makes perfect sense.  One thing that totally blew me away, even during those years that I checked, from around 2006 to 2010, was how active the MLHH was back then.  The site was positively humming!

It would certainly be nice to see the site return to its former glory, but with so many other sites for long haired men, I don’t know whether that would even be possible .

All is looking great, and it’s always a blessing to have a good  head of hair at our ages.  I will be 73 in a couple of months, and still have a decent head of hair with a good hairline, about ¾ down my back.

      I have to second what David said regarding seeing a dr. about your enlarged prostate.For me the whole issue started with flow problems and elevated PSA so I was put on Tamsulosin first, the Finasteride later for the enlarged prostate.I was offered surgeries as a fix for the flow issue but to me that option is an absolute last resort.The meds have been working and actually I went off the Tamsulosin  about a month now and have been good.Still taking the Finasteride though so maybe its been good for my hair as a side benefit.Anyway bottom line is take care of your health which i spend more time on now that I'm retired and have more time to concentrate on that.Keep us posted and good luck my friend.

My best advice, if you haven’t already, is to see a doctor, preferably a dermatologist for your answers about hair restoration treatments, particularly finasteride, which is only available with a prescription here.

Also, if you have an enlarged prostate, don’t delay, just act, and it’s never a good idea to procrastinate there.

Now when it comes to issues down there i've had some issues with an enlarged prostate that I need to see about.  I've procrastinating on that.  

BTW I did finally get into my account.  The password worked but the username needed spaces between the words.  I've never heard of spaces being allowed.  Every time a space is used elsewhere the system throws a fit.  So this is probably the only place that allows spaces.

Although I mentioned it in the historical thread, I’m going to mention it here, in your thread, since there’s a better chance that you’ll see it, knowing that there were additional replies to your thread, and having it bumped to the top.

I found an update photo from you from December 26, 2009.  Your hair was right around your waist, and of its original colour, since you earlier mentioned starting henna in 2011.  Also, in that same thread, there’s another photo of your hair, taken a year older, in December, 2008, where your hair looks even a bit longer, possibly just slightly below waist length.

Be sure to check it out if you see this and have a chance.  There’s so much to discover, going back through these old, historical, posts.

I was shocked, that not only did he cut his hair, but he shaved it bald.  I only discovered this during my research into his long hair in his 90s.  At least he has had long hair for most of his life anyway.

I was browsing just now, and found an interesting update from you dated December 26, 2009.  You may wish to check it out, but it appears that you clearly achieved waist length back then.  Also, I assume that it was your original hair colour as well.  In that same thread, there’s another photo of you from the year before, taken in December, 2008.

Hi Philip,

With reference to your historical photos from near November 1, 2006, I remember how impressed I was with your growth rate at that time.  I had just joined a month or so earlier, and saw that you had started in Spring 2004, the same time as me, and already seemed to be at mid back length.  It was hard to tell exactly, because not all of your hair fit the your photos.  My hair, for the same amount of growth time, was applied 4-6 inches shorter than yours.

It’s  too bad that you didn’t grow it out to its full potential back then, when you were in your 30s.  I’m sure that you could have achieved waist length easily.

Once you reach your goal of mid back length this time, if your hair is still gaining length, I hope that you will consider growing it further to see what your terminal length actually is.  You may be pleasantly surprised!

Willie Nelson - totally a classic archetypal long hair and a real inspiration!   A true legend :)  Nice inspiration choice!  I didn't know he buzzed his hair off, that is a shame, but perhaps there is a reason he did it.  (medical care, or something).  Alas, he will always be a long hair inspiration regardless!

I'm not nearly as familiar with Gregg Allman's appearance, although I am familiar with his music - but his hair in the link you shared is beautiful.  Thank you for sharing that!  

And Kurt, I think he inspired a generation for that longish shaggy look - it's a good look and really worked for him.

Thanks, David!  I appreciate the encouragement!   Some days I do feel like I am making good progress, others it feels stagnant.  Kind of depends on the mood of the day I guess.   I'm excited to reach my chin-length, it will feel like a real milestone.  I am guessing 4-6 months, which isn't that long in the grand scheme of things.

Yeah i used to post a lot back in the mid 2000s, and I did post as Aeyrim back then.  I miss and regret cutting my hair, but, alas, here I am.  

I need to dig through the archives to see what's there - I don't think my hair will ever look that good again, but hopefully not too far off.  I did lift my current profile pic from an old post here, so that's why it looks familiar.

    I cannot even imagine the man hours you must have put into improving the mlhh to what it is today. Before you took on this task it was very difficult sourcing volunteers willing to do the tech work behind the scenes.Our last tech guy accepted the job but not sure how much effort he put into it but was grateful he was able to forward me any information on this site so I could forward it to you.Its a shame there are those missing years of conversations as that's the time line when I officially joined as "Hairball". When I was looking through some of the oldest posts,pre 2000, I found one I made using my first name as my handle.I knew it was me since I referenced a nightclub in NJ that I frequented that hosted many metal bands that were national acts.I still need to sift through those years as time permits.However you've done a mammoth job breathing new life into the mlhh as prior to that activity was so low here I feared the site would eventually go dark.Now its go a new life so looking forward to years of activity helping future longhairs after some of us old guys are long gone.Cheers.

Ah yes, Duncan McLeod from Highlander is a good inspiration!   I've never heard of Renegade but I'll look for some pics of the characters from the show.  Although it plays into stereotypes to some extent (and to some extent not) I do love the look of long haired Native Americans.  There is a tv movie called Dreamkeeper that is full of beautiful long haired Natives - if you have a chance check it out :)  It's a good movie in its own right, too!

<drinking my morning caffeine> Colorado is a nice place to get  a mile high, among other things ;)  Lots of long haired guys out here so that's also a bonus.  Never been to Afghanistan, but it makes sense to me that the terrain would be similar - at least from the little bit I know.  One thing that is nice is that the low humidity here allows my hair to lay more flat than it ever did when I lived in Florida.  Makes the awkward stage a bit less awkward - but you are long past that stage!    

O.k., Colorado is quite a nice place to get high, at least a mile high if you're in Denver… but I myself stick to caffeine rather than THC!

And New Mexico has been compared to Afghanistan, scenery-wise… at least the northern part around Santa Fe!

One day, I wanted to have long hair because I found this beautiful, it was in 1998.

I live in France and in the 90s there was the TV series Highlander on TV and I liked the look of Duncan McLeod with his ponytail and often sharp dressed. His hair is partially fake, see explanations in this post.

There was also another TV series, Renegade, title “Le Rebelle” in France. This TV series were aired on channel TF1 on Sundays afternoons after the 1 pm news and Walker Texar Ranger. This is also a souvenir of a generation here: the Sunday family lunch with chicken and fries and the TV with Walker Texas Ranger in the background.
Two characters have long hair in this TV series, I have a preference for the the look of the Indian who wore suits and bolo ties. It was years after that I finally found the name of these ties and now I have some that I wear when weather is warm because it keeps your neck cooler than a regular tie.
